Sunday, Feb 20th Southern Normal
Class of 1980-1993 hosted their 2nd Annual Teachers Appreciation Banquet which was an extraordinary affair coordinated
by Bobby Odom ‘84.
The event began with an audience recital of “The
Lord’s Prayer”, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Samuel Odom ‘86, after which Andrella Nettles ’87,
local educator delivered a memorial dedication followed by Daphne McConnio ‘86 who introduced the 2011 honorees.
The New Orleans Jazz & Blues band played “live” music while the attendees
enjoyed a four course dinner catering by Jewels catering. A special presentation was shown by Gloria Odom ’87 to illustrate
the timeline of milestone achievements meet by Mr. Dooley and The Educators of the historical school.
After which, Rita Folmer’84 presented the following educators with

To honor the 100th
Anniversary of Southern Normal School, we honored all of the educators and staff who served since its founding September 1911.
There were 133 educators and staff members who have contributed to the longevity of Mr. James Dooley Sr.’s legacy of
educating “The head, The Heart and The Hand”. The following names have been included in a 100th year appreciation

covering 23 States.

affair was full of fun, grace, elegance, pride and unconditional love for Southern Normal School and its founder Professor,
Mr. James Dooley Sr!
